Adventures of a Teacher in Transition

Apparently a ton of people at my university have just been told that they no longer have placements for student teaching because Illinois is messing around with their legislation concerning education. Some people never had placements to begin with and others had them but for whatever reason they were taken away. I know that one girl who had a placement at the school I am placed at no longer has her spot. That makes me nervous!

I just can’t even imagine what it feels like for them to have worked SO hard and then to have the rug pulled from under them. Good mercy, Illinois. This is just another reason why I am hoping to find a teaching job outside in Illinois after graduation.

Oh man, that’s terrifying. I know a bunch of people student teaching this semester and I’m sincerely hoping none of them have to get a new placement only days/weeks before school starting. That would be heartbreaking.  I didn’t realize just how crazy the legislators of my state were making the education system. Oh Illinois…. Maybe I’ll start looking outside the state earlier than I was thinking to…
